potty training update

The potty training has been going really well. The last two days Eden has gone to her Parent's day out program and done really well with the potty training. She's been staying pretty dry and letting her teachers know that she needs to go potty. Yesterday she got really mad at me for trying to put her "naptime, traveling panties" (pull-up) on her to go somewhere in the car. So I braved it and let her 'fly without a net' so to speak. No problems. We ventured out to run some errands with no potty problems. She woke up halfway through naptime so she could use the potty. She hasn't had an accident in 2 days. She can't quite do everything by herself, but she's been telling me when she needs to go and sometimes getting to the bathroom before me. We're thrilled.

Potty training, Parent training.

Sunday night Eden mentioned that she wanted her big girl panties while she was sitting on the potty. I'm even sure how she ended up on the potty. We put her on it occasionally when she shows interest, but nothing consistent. On the spur of the moment, we pulled out the pack of Minnie Mouse/Daisy Duck panties I had bought months ago when I thought she was progressing towards potty training. We went through 3 pairs in less than an hour. Despite the puddles on the floor we were encouraged. By the third accident she was running to the potty as she was telling us she needed to go. For sure she was getting the idea.

Monday morning when she got up I took her straight to the potty and put her in a new pair of panties. I went off to work and she stayed home with David for her first full day of potty adventures. We put her on the potty every half hour and after each attempt she would remind us that she gets a sticker for trying. We spent a lot of time reading in the bathroom, especially after she had 3 cups of milk at dinner. After the first full day of visiting the potty every hour we had 12 tries, 1 success, and 1 accident.

Tuesday I was expecting a difficult day trying to juggle the potty training while watching Regan and Brynn. However Eden got up and went potty right away. Sure she peed on the steps shortly after that, but as the day progressed, she was having less big accidents and more successes, and running for the potty. She also woke up from her nap completely dry. Potty training day two: 14 tries, 6 successes, and 4 accidents.

Hopefully it keeps getting better and better. Admittedly we have no idea what we're doing, but so far whatever we're doing seems to be working.

Doctor cousin slipperwearer

This is one of my 'this and that' posts:

Eden found these cute panda house slippers that my friend Maureen got her in China before she was born. Eden really wanted to wear them, but they probably won't really fit her til she's 5. She kept wanting to wear the panda ones and they kept falling off their feet. So I picked up some adorable Hello Kitty slippers.

Aunt Chris and Uncle Don dropped by a belated birthday present when Don came to process a deer in our barn while I was out on Saturday. Eden's been playing doctor, checking to see if we're healthy, or if we need a shot, or taking our temperature.

Cousin Sariah came to spend the afternoon with us. As usual I bribed Eden with fruit snacks to sit and take a photo with her cousin. About a half an hour after we took these photos, Eden asked to take photos with Sariah again. After I got them both seated on the couch. Eden asked for more fruit snacks.

I made some cute pillowcases for the pillows in Eden's crib.

Bonus random cute photo:

Fancy Nancy Fest.

While I went scrapbooking on Saturday, David took Eden to the Fancy Nancy Fest. at Borders.

The lady dressed somewhat like Fancy Nancy read Splendiferous Christmas.

Then all the kids paraded around the store. Eden was probably one of the youngest ones in the parade. Most of the girls were 5 or 6.

Eden took a short detour as they passed the coffee shop. She wanted to make a cup of coffee.

They had a craft table.

This is Eden's new face. When you say smile or say cheese, this is what you get.

Birthday Afternoon

As an early birthday present, I surprised David with an afternoon at the National World War I museum. David loves museums and neither of us had been to this one since they renovated it three years ago.

There was a lot of museum to get through. We were able to get through it only because I convinced David not to read the chronology wall.

It was actually a pretty fascinating museum and really well put together.

Dentist appointment

Eden got to go to the dentist with us the other day. She was pretty fascinated watching them clean our teeth.

Then she got to try out the chair. She really tried to hard to fit in the chair.

They counted her teeth.

She'll have her first teeth cleaning in 6 months.

My Daddy flies at the beach

"My Daddy flies at the beach." Thats what Eden was saying the first part of last week. David has been contracting since he was laid off last July. This week he got to co-pilot the Citation 650 to a private island in the Turks and Caicos island grouping called Ambergris Cay (pronounced key).

This island is exclusive to members and their guests only. Normally crews are not allowed to stay on the island as there are no hotels there. Usually they would land, drop off their passengers, then fly to Grand Turk and stay there until their passengers were ready to leave. There was room in the staff dormitory, so they were allowed to stay on the island.

The island was pretty deserted. They have plans to build around 500 homes on the island, but currently there are only a handful of them on the island. There was only one other group of people staying on the island when they arrived, other than the people who work on the island.

Most of the time, David and the other pilot just ate in the staff caffeteria. There was a restaurant on the island where they were invited to join their passengers for dinner a couple of times.

David brought us some souvenirs. He said they were just littering the beach.
